Rock and Roll Woman

Inspired by the song “Rock and Roll Woman” by Buffalo Springfield. One of my absolute favorites.  Stephen Stills wrote the song about Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane.

I worked on this image on my Ipad using several photographs I put together on it.  I like this melding of different images to come up with something new.  This immediately reminded me of the pop art I grew up with.  Peter Max, Heinz Edelman (Beatles Yellow Submarine) and my favorite, graphic designer Milton Glaser.

The main image is a vintage image from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  The creepy building in the woman’s mind is an iPhone image I took at an abandoned hospital/asylum.  There’s another photo I just took yesterday at Stone Barns using slow shutter that can barely be seen.  I used digital painting apps and brushes to give it the pop art look I wanted.
