A Little of This and That
I want to wish each and everyone a happy, healthy and wealthy New Year. I also want to thank all of you who have taken the time to visit my blog this past year. I truly appreciate it and really enjoy your comments.
This week I had hard time deciding what images to work on and post. Tod’s Point Bridge 1 was a definite and is my homage to classical landscape. I must have used 10 textures to create the mood and light. Kings Park below was photographed at a former psychiatric hospital out in Long Island and it had to have that mysterious look that goes with abandoned psychiatric hospitals. The places you never want to be in at night but for some reason I love visiting during the day.
Kensico 1H was taken at Kensico Reservoir in North Castle, New York where I live. This reservoir provides drinking water for New York City. Kensico use to be town and my Great Grandfather and Grandfather uses to drive a stage coach from Armonk to Kensico. In 1905 the properties making up the village of Kensico were condemned, land owners paid “fair value” and the town flooded to create a reservoir. The stone building is probably a pump house but I’m not sure. I just like the way it looks! I’ve driven by this view a hundred times and finally stopped the car and took the shot. I really couldn’t get a feel on how I wanted the finished image to look and struggled for hours trying to figure out what the image was calling me to do with it. I finally felt the one below worked.
