We had our second winter storm of the season on a Saturday, January 21st . By the following Monday the temperature shot up and rain melted away what was left of the snow. I decided to head over to Bryant Park to see what would catch my interest to shoot. What I found was the combination of water and ice on the sidewalks created these beautiful impression-like paintings.
I know I few people looked at me with curiosity because I was carrying a gigantic golf umbrella and walking from puddle to puddle pointing my camera down into them.
This picture along with the one above was taken along the side of the New York Public Library. I actually flipped this one around because I found it more interesting.

The building lights and the golden colors caught my eye. This is in Bryant Park.

This one was shot in Bryant Park facing towards 42nd Street. I love the colors of the building and the watery painterly feel to it.

This picture was shot so that the reflection of the the New York Public Library was upside down. When I brought the image up on my computer screen a “fox-like” face appeared in the window.

However, when I flipped it around, I found a face. When I looked closely it’s a leaf floating in the puddle.

This shot is not painterly like my other pictures in this series but it is a clear example of the sense of depth in these reflections. It really was interesting to walk around the park looking down and having the feeling that I was walking on glass looking down into another world.

A corner of the New York Public Library reflected in the sidewalk. If you remember the series of photos I took inside the library, I had a photograph of one of the large chandeliers. Here it again, reflected in the rain puddle.

In one word… WOW!
Thank you!
Really nice! You have a great eye :o)
Thank you! So do you!
These are fantastic Karen! I really enjoyed them. The Impressionist quality within them is so beautiful. Really really lovely!
Thank you Marina! I enjoy your pictures too!
These are amazing! My favourite is #6. Interesting that the slush/ice has more texture than the building in the reflection.
Thank you! I like your observation on the slush/ice!
